Class 3 - $67,742 prorata ($32.28ph) plus 10% Superannuation

22.8hrs (3 Days - Mon, Wed, Thur) until 30 June 2023

How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

The Community Services Branch is responsible for managing, delivering, improving and implementing change in a range of community services to ensure quality outcomes for the city. The area is responsible for planning for and providing children’s services, including child care, parenting services and family support activities, immunisation, maternal and child health services, youth services, and services to older people. The branch works to ensure accessibility to all community members. It is also responsible for managing the contract for the Medical Officer of Health.

The Program Support Worker position will work 2 days at Kathleen Syme Library and 1 day at Community Centre in Carlton, the South Yarra Senior Citizens Centre and neighbourhood centres located in Kensington and North Melbourne as required. Their main duties will be to assist with the planning and implementation of enjoyable and meaningful activities for older people attending the Social Support Group, and to support the operations and administration of the neighbourhood centres and neighbourhood activity program.

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Certificate III HACC (Aged Care) including the ‘Provide support to meet personal care needs’ and ‘Apply first aid’ modules
  • Experience in working with older adults
  • An understanding of dementia and an ability to work with people people livinf with dementia 
  • Ability to use initiative appropriately and work independently or as instructed
  • Knowledge and understanding of O.H.&S practices
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements in client care
  • Police check clearance
  • Working with Children check clearance
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe O.H.&S practices
