How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Strategic Communications will form a critical part of the executive team, producing proactive communication, marketing and advocacy plans that support Council priorities and strategies. Leading a large team, the appointee will drive a values-based, collaborative and constructive culture with a shared vision and ambition for the Council. Key to the role is providing strategic counsel to the CEO and executive team, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, and managing reputation, risk and media issues. Providing strategic brand oversight and high-impact data-led marketing, the role will drive innovative integrated communication and advocacy plans to further reinforce City of Melbourne’s reputation as a leading capital city.


About you


You are a proven and authentic leader of large communication, media and marketing teams in complex stakeholder government and commercial organisations. Truly values led, collaborative and emotionally intelligent, you have a track record inspiring, supporting and empowering talented teams to succeed. Underpinning your best-practice communications and marketing skills are your outstanding capability in managing reputational risk, messaging and media, political acumen and developing and executing successful overarching brand strategies, supported by digital, customer journey and CRM plans. Data led, your creativity, intellect, strategic agility and outstanding people leadership skills, will see your passion for Melbourne continue to bring the city to life.

This position is offered under a Senior Officer Contract.
